The Cayenne’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Gravity doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Cayenne’s standard Porsche Hill Control allows you to creep down safely. The Gravity doesn’t offer Porsche Hill Control.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Cayenne helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Gravity doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Porsche Cayenne’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Lucid Motors Gravity does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

The Cayenne has standard Porsche Connect, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Gravity doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Cayenne and the Gravity have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The Cayenne’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Gravity’s (12 vs. 10 years).

There are almost 5 times as many Porsche dealers as there are Lucid Motors dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Cayenne’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Cayenne third among upper midsize premium suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Gravity isn’t in the top three in its category.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Cayenne CCB’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Gravity:

The Cayenne offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Gravity doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Cayenne Turbo has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The Gravity doesn’t offer air brakes.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Cayenne’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Gravity (F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. F:265/50R20 & R:285/45R21).

The Cayenne Base/S has a standard space-saver spare (not available on E-Hybrid) so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Gravity; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

The Cayenne offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Gravity doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The Cayenne offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lucid Motors doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Gravity.

The Cayenne handles at 1.02 G’s, while the Gravity Dream Edition pulls only .90 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Cayenne GTS executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.6 seconds quicker than the Gravity Touring (23.3 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 24.9 seconds @ .82 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Gravity (9.6 vs. 8.7 inches), allowing the Cayenne to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Porsche Cayenne may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 1300 pounds less than the Lucid Motors Gravity.

The Cayenne is 4.1 inches shorter than the Gravity, making the Cayenne easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Cayenne uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Gravity doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

As tested by Car and Driver while cruising at 70 MPH, the interior of the Cayenne GTS is quieter than the Gravity Dream Edition (66 vs. 69 dB).

Passenger Space

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Cayenne’s rear seats recline. The Gravity’s middle row seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The Cayenne has a much larger cargo volume than the Gravity with its rear seat up (27.3 vs. 25 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Cayenne’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Gravity doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Payload and Towing

The Cayenne’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Gravity’s (7716 vs. 6000 pounds).

Standard trailer sway control on the Cayenne uses the Porsche Stability Management sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Gravity doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Cayenne has a higher maximum payload capacity than the Gravity (1601 vs. 1500 lbs.).

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Gravity, the Cayenne offers an optional passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle and climate settings and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Cayenne to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Gravity doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Cayenne has a standard rear wiper. The Gravity doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Cayenne offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Gravity doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Cayenne has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Gravity doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

The Cayenne’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Gravity’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

When the Cayenne is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Gravity’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Cayenne’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Gravity has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Cayenne’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Gravity doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.

The Cayenne has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Gravity.

The Porsche Cayenne outsold the Lucid Motors Gravity by over 18 to one during 2025.
