For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Porsche Taycan have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Lotus Eletre doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Taycan has a standard Maneuvering Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Eletre doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Taycan helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Eletre doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Taycan and the Eletre have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Taycan comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car. The Eletre’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Taycan comes with free roadside assistance for 4 years 50,000 miles. Porsche will send help if you run out of gas, need a jump-start, lock your keys in or need any assistance on the road. Lotus doesn’t give free roadside assistance for the Eletre.

The Taycan’s corrosion warranty is 4 years longer than the Eletre’s (12 vs. 8 years).

Porsche pays for scheduled maintenance on the Taycan for 2 years and 24,000 miles. Porsche will pay for cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Lotus doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Eletre.

There are almost 5 times as many Porsche dealers as there are Lotus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Taycan’s warranty.

The Taycan Turbo GT’s standard electric motors produces 114 more horsepower (1019 vs. 905) and 188 lbs.-ft. more torque (914 vs. 726) than the Eletre’s electric motors.

The Taycan offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lotus doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Eletre.

The Porsche Taycan may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 650 to 1200 pounds less than the Lotus Eletre.

The Taycan Cross Turismo is 5.1 inches shorter than the Eletre, making the Taycan easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Taycan is 9.9 inches shorter in height than the Eletre, making the Taycan much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Taycan to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lotus doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Eletre.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Taycan has a standard rear wiper. The Eletre doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Taycan’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Eletre has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Taycan is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the Eletre, which solely provides FM radio. Cars like the Taycan equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The Eletre, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Porsche Taycan empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

The Porsche Taycan comes in sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Lotus Eletre isn’t available as a sedan.

The Taycan is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Eletre doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Consumer Reports® recommends the Porsche Taycan, based on reliability, safety and performance.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Taycan first among upper midsize premium cars in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Eletre isn’t in the top three.

The Porsche Taycan outsold the Lotus Eletre by almost 83 to one during 2025.
