Compare the2026 Porsche TaycanVS 2025 Audi A6 e-tron

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Taycan has a standard Maneuvering Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The A6 e-tron doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Taycan helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The A6 e-tron doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Taycan and the A6 e-tron have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Porsche pays for scheduled maintenance on the Taycan for 2 years and 24,000 miles. Porsche will pay for cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the A6 e-tron.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in initial quality. With 81 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is rated below average.

The Taycan offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The A6 e-tron doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the Taycan’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the A6 e-tron (F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21 vs. F:235/45R20 & R:265/40R20).

The Taycan’s standard 275/45R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the A6 e-tron’s 50 series rear tires. The Taycan’s optional 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the A6 e-tron’s 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Taycan offers optional 21-inch wheels. The A6 e-tron’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Taycan AWD offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The A6 e-tron doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Taycan uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the A6 e-tron, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Taycan offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Audi doesn’t offer an active suspension on the A6 e-tron.

The Taycan’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the A6 e-tron’s (47% to 53%). This gives the Taycan more stable handling and braking.

The Taycan Turbo GT Weissach handles at 1.15 G’s, while the A6 e-tron Prestige pulls only .88 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Taycan Turbo GT Weissach executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 4.2 seconds quicker than the A6 e-tron Prestige (21.9 seconds @ 1.03 average G’s vs. 26.1 seconds @ .74 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Taycan Turbo S/GT’s turning circle is 4 feet tighter than the A6 e-tron’s (36.4 feet vs. 40.4 feet). The Taycan Cross Turismo’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the A6 e-tron’s (39.4 feet vs. 40.4 feet).

The Porsche Taycan may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 300 pounds less than the Audi A6 e-tron.

The Taycan has a larger trunk with its rear seat folded than the A6 e-tron with its rear seat folded (45.8 vs. 39.9 cubic feet).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than Audi. J.D. Power ranks Porsche first in service department satisfaction. With a 42% lower rating, Audi is ranked 18th.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the A6 e-tron, the Taycan offers an optional passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position (with optional power wheel adjuster), outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Taycan has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the A6 e-tron.

The Taycan offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the A6 e-tron.

The Taycan is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the A6 e-tron, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the Taycan offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the A6 e-tron.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the Taycan equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The A6 e-tron, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Porsche Taycan empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

The Taycan’s optional Active Parking Support can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Optional Remote ParkAssist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The A6 e-tron Premium Plus/Prestige’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The Porsche Taycan comes in sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Audi A6 e-tron isn’t available as a station wagon.
