Both the Taycan and LS have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Taycan has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The LS’ child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Taycan helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The LS doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Taycan and the LS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Taycan’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the LS’ (12 vs. 6 years).

Porsche pays for scheduled maintenance on the Taycan for 1 year and 14,000 miles longer than Lexus pays for maintenance for the LS (2/24,000 vs. 1/10,000).

The Taycan Performance Battery Plus’ standard electric motor produces 13 more horsepower (429 vs. 416) than the LS’ 3.4 turbo V6. The Taycan 4 Performance Battery Plus’ standard electric motors produces 13 more horsepower (429 vs. 416) and 7 lbs.-ft. more torque (449 vs. 442) than the LS’ 3.4 turbo V6. The Taycan Turbo GT’s standard electric motors produces 603 more horsepower (1019 vs. 416) and 472 lbs.-ft. more torque (914 vs. 442) than the LS’ 3.4 turbo V6.

The Taycan can travel with zero emissions for 269 to 318 miles (dependent on model). The LS can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Taycan’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The LS doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Taycan, as a pure battery electric vehicle, has no need to “idle” its motors in traffic: they only burn power when moving. The Taycan’s climate control systems still work completely when the vehicle is stopped. The LS still runs its internal combustion engine whenever it’s stopped, burning excess fuel.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Porsche Taycan higher (10 out of 10) than the Lexus LS (4). This means the Taycan produces up to 25 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the LS every 15,000 miles.

The Taycan’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The LS doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the Taycan’s brake rotors are larger than those on the LS:

The Taycan offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The LS doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Taycan stops much shorter than the LS:

For better traction, the Taycan’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the LS (F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21 vs. 245/45R20).

The Taycan’s optional 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the LS’ 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Taycan offers optional 21-inch wheels. The LS’ largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Taycan AWD offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The LS doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Taycan uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the LS, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Taycan offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lexus doesn’t offer an active suspension on the LS.

The Taycan has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Taycan’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The LS doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Taycan is 2.8 inches wider in the front and 1.8 inches wider in the rear than the track on the LS.

The Taycan’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the LS’ (53.3% to 46.7%). This gives the Taycan more stable handling and braking.

The Taycan Turbo GT Weissach handles at 1.15 G’s, while the LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Taycan Turbo GT Weissach executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3.8 seconds quicker than the LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition (21.9 seconds @ 1.03 average G’s vs. 25.7 seconds @ .73 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Taycan Turbo S/GT’s turning circle is 3 feet tighter than the LS AWD’s (36.4 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

The Porsche Taycan may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 300 pounds less than the Lexus LS.

The Taycan is 10.7 inches shorter than the LS, making the Taycan easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Taycan uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The LS doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Taycan has 1.4 inches more front headroom, .8 inches more front legroom and .4 inches more rear headroom than the LS.

The Taycan has a much larger trunk with its rear seat up than the LS (18.8 vs. 17 cubic feet).

The Taycan’s available rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The LS doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than Lexus. J.D. Power ranks Porsche first in service department satisfaction. With a 12% lower rating, Lexus is ranked second.

The Taycan’s optional Active Parking Support can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Optional Remote ParkAssist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The LS’ automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The Porsche Taycan comes in sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Lexus LS isn’t available as a station wagon.

The Taycan is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The LS doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Consumer Reports® recommends the Porsche Taycan, based on reliability, safety and performance. The Lexus LS isn't recommended.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Taycan first among upper midsize premium cars in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The LS isn’t in the top three.

The Porsche Taycan outsold the Lexus LS by almost four to one during 2025.
