The Taycan’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Lyriq doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Taycan has standard multi-collision braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Taycan helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Taycan and the Lyriq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Taycan’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the Lyriq’s (12 vs. 6 years).

Porsche pays for scheduled maintenance on the Taycan for 2 years and 24,000 miles. Porsche will pay for cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Lyriq.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Taycan’s reliability 20 points higher than the Lyriq.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in initial quality. With 12 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is rated below average.

The Taycan has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Lyriq doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the Taycan’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Lyriq:

The Taycan offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Lyriq doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Taycan stops much shorter than the Lyriq:

For better traction and acceleration, the Taycan has larger standard rear tires than the Lyriq (275/45R19 vs. 265/50R20). The Taycan’s optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Lyriq (305/30R21 vs. 275/40R22).

The Taycan’s standard 275/45R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Lyriq’s standard 50 series tires. The Taycan’s optional 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Lyriq’s optional 40 series tires.

The Taycan AWD offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Lyriq doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Taycan uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Lyriq, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Taycan offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Cadillac doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Lyriq.

The Taycan has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Taycan’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Taycan is 1.2 inches wider in the front and .2 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Lyriq.

The Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo handles at 1.02 G’s, while the Lyriq pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3.2 seconds quicker than the Lyriq Luxury AWD (23.2 seconds @ .93 average G’s vs. 26.4 seconds @ .71 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Taycan Turbo S/GT’s turning circle is 3.2 feet tighter than the Lyriq’s (36.4 feet vs. 39.6 feet). The Taycan Cross Turismo’s turning circle is .2 feet tighter than the Lyriq’s (39.4 feet vs. 39.6 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Lyriq-V (6.8 vs. 6.2 inches), allowing the Taycan to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Porsche Taycan may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 800 to 1000 pounds less than the Cadillac Lyriq.

The Taycan is 9.7 inches shorter in height than the Lyriq, making the Taycan much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the Taycan. The Lyriq doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Taycan to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Cadillac doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Lyriq.

The Taycan offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Taycan has a standard rear wiper. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Lyriq’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Taycan’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The Porsche Taycan comes in sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Cadillac Lyriq isn’t available as a sedan.
