The Macan Electric’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the Macan Electric and Grand Cherokee have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Macan Electric has Rear Cross Traffic Alert (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Grand Cherokee’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Macan Electric and the Grand Cherokee have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The Macan Electric comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Grand Cherokee’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Macan Electric’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the Grand Cherokee’s (12 vs. 5 years).

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in long-term dependability. With 16 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Jeep is rated below average.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Macan Electric can travel with zero emissions for 290 to 332 miles (dependent on model). The Grand Cherokee can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Macan Electric’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Macan Electric has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Grand Cherokee. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage; a locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Porsche Macan Electric higher (10 out of 10) than the Jeep Grand Cherokee (6). This means the Macan Electric produces up to 12.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Grand Cherokee every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

The Macan Electric’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Macan Electric Turbo/GTS’ brake rotors are larger than those on the Grand Cherokee:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the Macan Electric has larger standard rear tires than the Grand Cherokee (285/45R20 vs. 265/60R18). The Macan Electric’s optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Grand Cherokee (295/40R21 vs. 275/45R21).

The Macan Electric’s standard 235/55R20 front and 285/45R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series front and 45 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Grand Cherokee

’s standard 60 series tires. The Macan Electric’s optional 255/40R22 front and 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the Grand Cherokee Summit’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Macan Electric has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Grand Cherokee

. The Macan Electric’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels on the Grand Cherokee Summit.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the Macan Electric uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Grand Cherokee, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Macan Turbo Electric handles at .95 G’s, while the Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Macan Turbo Electric executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 4.2 seconds quicker than the Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 (23.9 seconds @ .9 average G’s vs. 28.1 seconds @ .58 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the Macan Electric Turbo/GTS has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Grand Cherokee (8.8 vs. 8.4 inches), allowing the Macan Electric to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Macan Electric is 5.2 inches shorter than the Grand Cherokee, making the Macan Electric easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Macan Electric is 7.3 inches shorter in height than the Grand Cherokee, making the Macan Electric much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The design of the Porsche Macan Electric amounts to more than styling. The Macan Electric has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .25 Cd. That is significantly lower than the Grand Cherokee (.357) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Macan Electric get better fuel mileage.

Towing

The Macan Electric’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Grand Cherokee’s (4409 vs. 3500 pounds).

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than Jeep. J.D. Power ranks Porsche first in service department satisfaction. With a 50% lower rating, Jeep is ranked 21st.

Ergonomics

The Macan Electric’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Grand Cherokee’s standard rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully. The Grand Cherokee Summit’s .

The Macan Electric’s standard Comfort Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Enter-N-Go standard on the Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Macan Electric’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Grand Cherokee’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Macan Electric to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Grand Cherokee doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The Grand Cherokee Summit’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Macan Electric’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The Porsche Macan Electric has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the Grand Cherokee Summit.

The Macan Electric has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the Grand Cherokee Laredo X/Altitude/Limited/Summit.

The Porsche Macan Electric has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Homelink® is only available on the Grand Cherokee Limited/Summit.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Porsche Macan Electric has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the Grand Cherokee Laredo X/Altitude/Limited/Summit offers wireless charging.

The Macan Electric’s optional Self Steering ParkAssist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Optional Remote ParkAssist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Grand Cherokee Summit’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.
