The front and rear suspension of the Macan Electric uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Optiq, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.
The Macan Electric has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Macan Electric’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Optiq doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.
The Macan Turbo Electric handles at .95 G’s, while the Optiq Sport AWD pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.
The Macan Turbo Electric executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3.5 seconds quicker than the Optiq Sport AWD (23.9 seconds @ .9 average G’s vs. 27.4 seconds @ .64 average G’s).
For greater off-road capability the Macan Electric Turbo/GTS has a 2.8 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Optiq (8.8 vs. 6 inches), allowing the Macan Electric to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Macan Electric’s minimum ground clearance is 2.9 inches higher than on the Optiq (8.9 vs. 6 inches).
