Compare the2024 Porsche TaycanVS 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre

2024 Porsche Taycan
2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre

Safety

The Taycan’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Spectre doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Porsche Taycan are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Rolls-Royce Spectre doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Taycan and the Spectre have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems and around view monitors.

Warranty

The Taycan’s corrosion warranty is 8 years longer than the Spectre’s (12 vs. 4 years).

There are over 5 times as many Porsche dealers as there are Rolls-Royce dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Taycan’s warranty.

Engine

The Taycan Turbo S’ standard electric motors produces 173 more horsepower (750 vs. 577) and 110 lbs.-ft. more torque (774 vs. 664) than the Spectre’s electric motors.

Brakes and Stopping

The Taycan offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Spectre doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Taycan’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Spectre (F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21 vs. F:255/40R23 & R:295/35R23).

The Taycan’s optional 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Spectre’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Taycan w/Rear Axle Steering’s turning circle is 5 feet tighter than the Spectre’s (36.7 feet vs. 41.7 feet). The Taycan Cross Turismo’s turning circle is 2.3 feet tighter than the Spectre’s (39.4 feet vs. 41.7 feet).

Chassis

The Porsche Taycan may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1150 to 1800 pounds less than the Rolls-Royce Spectre.

The Taycan is 1 foot, 8.2 inches shorter than the Spectre, making the Taycan easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Taycan is 7.6 inches shorter in height than the Spectre, making the Taycan much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The front grille of the Taycan uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Spectre doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Passenger Space

The Taycan offers optional seating for 5 passengers; the Spectre can only carry 4.

Cargo Capacity

The Taycan has a much larger trunk than the Spectre (17.2 vs. 13 cubic feet).

The Taycan has a much larger trunk with its rear seat up than the Spectre (18.7 vs. 13 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

The Taycan offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Spectre doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Taycan’s optional Active Parking Support can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote ParkAssist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Spectre’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.

Model Availability

The Porsche Taycan comes in sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Rolls-Royce Spectre isn’t available as a sedan or station wagon.

The Taycan is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Spectre doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
