2024 Ferrari Purosangue

Safety

The Cayenne has a standard Multi-collision Brake System, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Cayenne offers optional Maneuver Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Purosangue doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Cayenne helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Cayenne offers an optional Surround View to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Purosangue only offers a rear monitor.

Both the Cayenne and Purosangue have Rear Cross Traffic Alert, but the Cayenne has automatic rear cross-traffic braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Purosangue’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Cayenne and the Purosangue have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The Cayenne comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Purosangue’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The Cayenne’s corrosion warranty is 9 years longer than the Purosangue’s (12 vs. 3 years).

There are over 4 times as many Porsche dealers as there are Ferrari dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Cayenne’s warranty.

Reliability

The Purosangue’s redline is at 8250 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Cayenne has a 6500 to 6800 RPM redline.

Engine

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 25 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 528) than the Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12. The Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 14 more horsepower (729 vs. 715) and 172 lbs.-ft. more torque (700 vs. 528) than the Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Cayenne running its gasoline engine gets better mileage than the Purosangue:

MPG

Cayenne

AWD

3.0 turbo V6

17 city/23 hwy

4.0 turbo V8

15 city/21 hwy

Purosangue

AWD

6.5 DOHC V12

11 city/15 hwy

Regenerative brakes improve the Cayenne’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Cayenne CCB’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Purosangue:

Cayenne CCB

Purosangue

Front Rotors

17.3 inches

15.7 inches

Rear Rotors

16.1 inches

15 inches

The Cayenne Turbo has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The Purosangue doesn’t offer air brakes.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Cayenne’s optional front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Purosangue (F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. F:255/35R22 & R:315/30R23).

Chassis

The front grille of the Cayenne uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Purosangue doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Passenger Space

The Cayenne has standard seating for 5 passengers; the Purosangue can only carry 4.

Cargo Capacity

The Cayenne has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Purosangue (27.2 vs. 16.7 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Cayenne’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Ergonomics

The Cayenne offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer, warning and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Cayenne’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Purosangue’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Cayenne to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Purosangue doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Cayenne has a standard rear wiper. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Cayenne’s optional Active Parking Assistance can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote ParkAssist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Purosangue doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
